Applied Research Associates, Inc. Senior Marine Engineer in Norfolk, Virginia

Description

The Capital Area Division (CAD)of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Marine Engineer that is responsible for all operations and maintenance associated with all engineering equipment throughout the vessels or other craft used for vessel operations. Additionally, the Chief works with the Vessel Team to ensure equipment installed is safely integrated and does not damage the vessel or its subsystems.

Upon successful onboarding the incumbent will be responsible for the following:

  • All preventive and corrective maintenance

  • Planning, executing and documenting all periodic maintenance requirements which includes daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual

  • Maintaining, ordering and installing repair parts

  • Maintaining appropriate levels of on-board spares

  • On Scene Leader for any emergency aboard the vessel to include fire, man overboard, or any other casualty

  • On Scene Leader for launch and recovery of assets from vessel and during docking and undocking evolutions

  • Maintains all damage control and firefighting equipment

  • Maintain all shipboard auxiliary systems to include ground tackle, deck equipment and boat launch/recovery systems

  • Maintains Stiletto electrical generators and distribution systems

Required Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in Navy maritime research and development programs

  • 10 years previous experience in Marine Engineering

  • Significant experience in high-speed diesel-powered platforms

  • Strong deck plate electrical background and proven performance in marine platforms

  • Significant experience in maintaining/repairing carbon fiber hulls

  • Experience in a Fabrication/Repair Facility – Integrating new systems

  • Vessel dry-docking experience

  • Recent installation experience of newer maritime technologies that may have application to military missions. Technologies of interest include Radar, Electro Optics, Infrared Sensors, Communications, Electrical Power, Structural Materials, and propulsion systems

  • Recent experience in launch and recovery of unmanned systems and their operations from a maritime platform. This includes air, surface and underwater systems.

  • Secret Security Clearance required
