Your Responsibilities
Brand Strategy and Performance
Lead, coach, and develop organization with an aggressive focus on program development plans that will drive performance gains, enhanced guest satisfaction and increased brand compliance across the Upscale Segment.
Direct the development and execution of consumer and/or operational testing and appropriate measurement mechanisms with a focus on owner Return on Investment (ROI), Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR), Likelihood to Recommend (LTR), and unit growth. Work with Brand Compliance to manage collection and analysis of program compliance data.
Provide monthly updates to the Brand Leadership team on portfolio performance (current and forward-looking trends), including a high-level summary of strategy and tactics to drive improvements.
Establish a portfolio review process for Management Companies and Owner/Operators to ensure performance alignment.
Identify best practices to leverage across the brand portfolio.
Manage and sustain existing brand initiatives in the form of rules and regulations updates, handle franchisee inquiries to the brand programs.
Oversee the Franchisee Value Proposition across brands and play a significant role in shaping priorities for Franchisee-focused work streams.
Proactively seek opportunities to improve the profitability of existing franchisees.
Operational Excellence
Leverage peer relationships (Choice Revenue Management (ChoiceRM), Cambria Field Sales, Sales Operations) to partner with to drive top-line revenues at portfolio hotels and drive compliance with programs and resources.
Partner with Franchisee Architecture & Design, Onboarding, and Learning Center Segment Operations to support and ensure successful openings.
Leverage resources within the broader Choice organization to identify new opportunities that drive incremental revenue, enhance guest satisfaction, increase operating efficiency and expense containment at the hotel level.
Team and Organizational Leadership
Lead a small team of project managers and establish common systems around tools, processes and systems.
Act as segment center of excellence on project management and other process related items.
Your Experience, Skills & Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Business Management, or a relevant field of study from a four-year college or university. Master’s Degree Strongly Preferred.
Minimum 12 years of operational experience with a major hotel group and/or hotel management company including on-property (GM) and above property leadership roles preferred.
Significant success in developing and implementing effective strategies for positive change and enhanced profitability.
P&L responsibility for a multi-unit portfolio preferred.
Successfully demonstrated experience in process development, management, and measurement.
Dynamic and highly intelligent leader who can inspire confidence and credibility throughout the organization.
Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to develop relationships with associates at all levels of the organization and drive results in a team-oriented environment.
Excellent business-savvy with a consultative approach and holistic business view; ability to influence and collaborate with leaders across organizational lines in a highly matrixed organization.
Excellent ability to manage ambiguity combined with an ability to leverage data and create a foundation of data-supported decision making.
Excellent analytical and forecasting skills; previous experience with successful budget management including strong financial acumen.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across all stakeholder groups including small and large group settings, both internal and external.
Ability to understand and apply technology and related tools.
Fully proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook.
Flexibility in creating and making changes or re-directing initiatives to continuously improve the strategy and organization, showing comfort with change management, and working in a matrix-based organization.
Your Team
This is a leadership role that will report to the Senior Vice President & GM, Upscale. You will have 2 direct reports and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.
Your Work Location
As our Senior Director, Upscale Brand Operations and Performance, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $184,269 to $216,939 annually. In addition to the annual salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus based on the terms of Choice's Management Incentive Plan (MIP), as well annual awards of Choice Hotels International common stock through Choice’s Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTI Plan).
Pay ranges listed are for this position and are what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
