Description

• Entry-level HVAC technician assists mechanics with the installation and repair of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems.

• Understand refrigeration cycle, diagnosing problems in the refrigeration circuit, using a manifold gauge set, pressure/ temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and daily trouble shooting. Perform refrigeration recovery, evacuation, charging and general maintenance.

• Able to assist install, repair, adjust, maintain, and trouble shoot the following equipment mini-split systems, refrigeration controls, compressors, heat pumps, split systems, package units, electric motors -- single and three phase, electric motor controls -- contactors, starters, relays, disconnects, and thermostats.

• Ability to use a multi-meter and megger to read voltage, current, and resistance values.

• Perform soldering and brazing.

• Provide general maintenance, troubleshooting, and assist repair to commercial chillers and their ancillary equipment (i.e., cooling towers and air handlers; flat plate heat exchanges, motors, pumps, variable frequency drives, instrumentation and controls associated with both, including tear down and rebuild.

• Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings and technical manuals on all existing HVAC systems.

• Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

• Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask.

• Prepare and cleanup work areas as required.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

ASRC Federal Field Services are seeking a HVAC Mechanic to support the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in North Charleston (FLETC Federal Complex off Spruill Avenue) .

Requirements:

• High School diploma or General education degree (GED) preferred.

• Minimum 2 years’ HVAC/general maintenance experience.

• Must be able to push, pull and/or lift 50 lbs.

• Must be a US or Naturalized Citizen.

• Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen and physical.

• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
