Overview

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician, Pipefitter (Night Shift) who specializes in inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining piping systems while providing crucial maintenance support to facilities equipment. You will be responsible for providing maintenance, repair, calibration, and improvement tasks of on-site equipment, utilities, facilities, and instruments to ensure smooth production operations, manufacturing efficiency, utility system functionality, and R&D (labs, warehouses, office facilities). As a part of this role, you will provide maintenance support to facilities equipment and assist other groups or trades to ensure operational excellence.

HOURS: This position is for the night shift, working from 6:00 pm to 6:30 am, with a rotating 12-hour shift, 4 nights on and 4 nights off.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to AbbVie's code of conduct and safety policies, ensuring compliance with established company policies for GMP and safe work practices.

  • Ensure compliance with safety policies by consistently wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), actively participating in required EHS training, identifying, and reporting "Safety Opportunities" or "Near-Misses," and actively supporting safety-related programs to promote a strong safety culture. Timely completion of all required training is essential.

  • Maintain department assets to ensure production goals and quality standards are met.

  • Populate and execute relevant documentation (i.e., WO's, JP's, SOPs, etc.) while maintaining quality standards.

  • Ensure documentation is appropriately forwarded, identify inconsistencies and/or errors, and promptly fix errors with a supervisor. Prepare necessary documentation for error correction and accurately document all maintenance activity in CMMS.

  • Perform senior-level maintenance work independently on various equipment/systems, including machine lubrication, inspection, repair, and fabrication.

  • Provide preventive and demand maintenance on various equipment/systems, including compressors, autoclaves, washers, mixers, etc., and other equipment related to production or facility operations. May perform pipefitting, welding, maintenance, and other work.

  • Perform preventive maintenance work on plant equipment, including but not limited to machine lubrication, inspection, repair, and light fabrication, air handlers, and utility system components. Predictive maintenance is expected where applicable. Ordering and installing parts and materials on various equipment.

  • Work on semi-routine assignments but recognize the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. Normally follow established procedures on routine work and require instructions only on new assignments.

  • Educate peers on existing hazards in the work area and capable of training others on routine tasks.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required with 5+ years of experience or Relevant Certificate with 3+ years of experience or an associate’s technical degree with 1+ years of experience related to root cause investigation and reliability centered maintenance analysis.

  • Years of strong work experience in the field of plumbing/pipefitting, indicating proficiency in aspects of plumbing construction and maintenance work including the ability to work well with others in a commercial and/or industrial work environment.

  • Required skills to inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain piping and equipment systems. Knowledge of steam systems.

  • Proficiency in multiple skilled trade disciplines including understanding of all aspects of piping theory and application to systems in a commercial and/or industrial environment.

  • Must be able to perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs, have the ability to install piping equipment and accessories according to Abbvie Engineering Standards.

  • Ability to accurately use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, scales).

  • Experience in any of the following: mechanical trades, electrical up to 480v, Controls, Instrumentation, and/or welding experience is a plus.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply proper hand tools in an industrial setting.

  • Knowledge and ability to use basic power tools (such as electric drills, drill press, saws, grinders, pneumatic and hydraulic tools).

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, specifically in MS Windows.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • On an independent basis, the individual must be able to evaluate the use of various resources and make knowledgeable decisions regarding safety, company standards, and policies.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
