Job Description

Purpose:

Comparative Medicine is responsible for providing animal care and assuring regulatory animal compliance, while meeting and advancing the scientific needs of our researchers with consideration for the well-being of our research animals. We are a scientifically integrated organization within R&D, working to provide solutions for in-vivo research groups through technical support and model development, maintenance, and on-going refinements.

The Technician II is responsible primarily for technical procedures (in vivo and invitro) but will also support husbandry/animal care and the operational aspects of Comparative Medicine in a GxP environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Handling and restraint of research animals (primarily mice but can include but not limited to rats, dogs, and non-human primates

  • Perform PO, IV, ID, IP and SC injections.

  • Perform other survival and non-survival procedures including blood collection, identification, body weights, etc.

  • Perform euthanasia.

  • Tissue harvest/necropsy

  • Support and help with animal care/husbandry.

  • Keep inventories.

  • Perform in vitro bench top techniques including preparation of formulations, pipetting, etc.

  • Support and help with animal health and environmental monitoring.

  • Equipment validation and maintenance

  • Writing and revising SOPs and training documents

  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • ALAT/RALAT certification with High School Diploma and 5 years’ experience in laboratory animal field, or ALAT/RALAT with AS/BS and 3 years’ experience, or LAT certification with High School Diploma and 3 years’ experience, or LAT with AS/BS and 1 year experience.

  • Able to lift 50 pounds.

  • Able to perform repetitive procedures.

  • Must be adaptable and flexible to meet the demands of an ever-changing work environment.

  • Must be able to troubleshoot.

  • Advises co-worker and/supervisor of issues (and provides solutions)

  • Understands and acts on detailed instructions.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
