The goal of the Manager, Global Sales Training – Robotic Surgical Technologies (RST) is to drive innovation by getting our therapies to markets around the world. We do this through advancing global clinical and sales training by creating standardized global training curricula, deploying this content to regional training and marketing teams, and assisting these regional teams in executing world-class training programs, including but not limited to new product launches, targeted advanced trainings, recertifications, and One Surgical initiatives.

The incumbent is expected to work across the matrix with commercial functions including, but not limited to, Global and Regional Commercial Capabilities, Surgical Commercial Marketing partners, Sales Leadership, Global and Regional Marketing, Medical Education, Commercial Operations, Marketing Communications, and HR. Working with these key stakeholders, this individual will partner with learning design to develop and deploy curricula to effectively execute on RST business initiatives, as well as engage in a continuous feedback loop with regional partners.

Day in the Life

  • Drive training standardization across RST by collaborating with learning design, regional training and marketing to create consistent commercial training, focused on 80% global standardization, 20% localized customization at the point of delivery

  • Align curricula creation and implementation for organizational groups including but not limited to:New Hires, Current Sellers, Sales Leadership, and External Training teams

  • Use gap analysis discussions with Marketing and Sales to develop programs that build new capabilities to address identified gaps

  • Lead your respective Community of Practice (COP) across the globe, aligning efforts to the needs/gaps determined by this group, helping to standardize best practices, curricula and metrics to infuse regional growth

  • Execute on New Product Launch Excellence, driving alignment between global/regional stakeholders (Sales Training/Marketing/Sales/MedEd)

  • Lead global Train-the-Trainer (TTT) initiatives to deploy curricula to regional training and marketing, supporting in-country sales training teams to build robust commercial solutions

  • Partner closely with Global Sales Excellence to support initiatives in non-clinical commercial skills as needed

Essential Functions

  • Execute on the creation and deployment of initiatives to advance commercial capabilities of sales representatives, managers and senior sales leadership, as well as external training and other cross-functional partners

  • Partner with the Learning Design team to create and develop global curriculum, and work with Regional Sales Training/Marketing to deliver to regional customers

  • Continually lead the sharing of content and knowledge between the OU and regions to create a globally common and consistent commercial and clinical training pathway

  • Collaborate across the matrix with Medical Ed and Commercial Operations to determine synergies with other training platforms, finding efficiencies

  • Align to corporate processes, including Veeva PromoMats approval procedures

  • Effectively model facilitation and training excellence (TTT) for regional training managers

  • Partner with Regional Sales Training teams in a creative, dependable, and flexible manner to improve existing training programs, meeting needs of local markets within region

  • Ensure all training content is up-to-date and properly reflects selling philosophy and models

  • Routinely partner with teams (Learning Design, Global Sales Excellence, Tech & Learning Innovation) to ensure ongoing value of clinical curriculum, and be actively involved in the continuous improvement of training programs

  • Align with Marketing on materials and programs for the existing portfolio and new product launches, including collaborating on regional training needs

  • Support development of talent and find resource efficiencies by utilizing field seller/regional training Subject Matter Experts on curricula development and deployment where applicable

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 5+ years in one or more of the following functions: Sales, Clinical Training, Sales Training, Medical Education, Marketing, or other relevant areas, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MA Ed, MA, or PhD)

  • Experience in a medical sales organization that includes:

  • 5+ years in one or more of the following functions: Sales, Clinical Training, Sales Training, Medical Education, Marketing, or other relevant areas

  • Interactions with training instructional design and use of adult learning principles for training curricula development

  • Depth of commercial experience, Cross-BU preferred

  • Regional experience demonstrating global acumen and strong cross-cultural agility

  • Proven track record of ability to navigate and collaborate across the global MDT Matrix

  • In-depth knowledge of the field sales organization, structure, processes and culture

  • Strategy development or support (i.e., Marketing/Medical Ed) preferred

  • Proven experience in multicultural dimensions, particularly different learning and thinking styles

  • Experience with project management/project leadership, excellent planning and organizational skills

  • Ability to build cross-functional engagement

  • High capacity to learn in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong track record and demonstration of results

  • Proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects concurrently

  • Solid organizational skills and ability to operate independently

  • Self-motivator who can apply innovative thinking to define solutions to business problems, solution oriented

  • Excellent influencing, interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills

  • Mastery level knowledge of clinical and selling skills, knowledge of adult learning principles

  • Management experience preferred

  • Demonstrated leadership/coaching skills

  • Ability to maintain an ethical mindset and conduct business with integrity

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient in Allego, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
