FedEx Freight Inc. Sr Freight Inspector in North Jackson, Ohio
POSITION OVERVIEW: Serve as a lead in the inspection and investigation of shipment characteristics in order to validate accurate application of all FedEx Freight rules and regulations and the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) for recovery of revenue. Review dimensional scan data, as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Lead Freight Inspectors; review computer reports for shipment(s) and identify and inspect specific commodities to ensure NMFC compliance and revenue recovery Provide inspection data research to the Pricing department regarding shipper's profile involving specific accounts Assist Freight Analysis leadership in providing initial and ongoing education of Freight Analysis employees Communicate development and implementation of all Freight Analysis related processes to functional and Operations management Support freight analysis process by reviewing dimensional scan data and making revenue determination correction(s), as needed Work with local management and employees to initiate a proactive approach to reduce and prevent classification and reweigh corrections Provide demonstrative training and support to FXF employees by visiting and assisting internal and external customers in the use of the NMFC, FXF Rules, bill of ladings, billing masks and improvement of packaging suitable for the LTL environment, and related processes Monitor and provide demonstrative training to Operations and Sales employees to ensure proper use of weighing equipment for accuracy to maintain integrity of the reweigh process Develop and present Freight Analysis processes/updates in office, operations, sales, dock, and driver pre-shift meetings Create and track charts, graphs and action plans as needed regarding freight analysis related processes Promote the development of Freight Analysis while participating in cross functional interaction with sales and operations employees; participation/interaction may include driver rides, sales rides and assisting in sales calls as needed Collaborate with Claims Prevention and Hub Planners and educate Operations regarding capacity load and CCD corrections Assist regional and district leadership as needed Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures Perform other duties as required Disclaimer: This job description is general in nature and is not designed to contain or to be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to the job. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent Three (3) years transportation experience in an operations environment, which includes two (2) years performing freight inspection duties Clear understanding of the NMFC and all Freight Analysis processes Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience and ability to use Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel, and Outlook Strong math, analytical and problem solving skills Excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task Experience using Transportation/Freight Management computer systems Ability to make good decisions in a fast past work environment Ability to work independently and as a team member Must be able to climb in and out of trailers from ground level Ability to review basic data and make decisions WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to work different shifts and/or weekends Must be able to travel Exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust and noise in a dock environment Preferred Qualifications: Pay Transparency: Pay: Additional Details: Starting Rate of Pay: $30.10 / hour FedEx Freight is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans.
