Job Description

The Government Relations Specialist will support the Government Affairs team by representing the firm’s interests through consulting leadership, primarily within Arkansas, Missouri, and nearby states. This role involves engaging in grassroots initiatives, interacting with industry associations, and supporting various government relations activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage government affairs engagement.

  • Identify opportunities to engage our leaders with key stakeholders including economic development corporations, trade organizations, chambers, and political candidate engagement.

  • Monitor and research current and relevant emerging public policy issues affecting Olsson.

  • Manage legislative engagement with lobbyists and trade organizations.

  • Specialize in identified industry focus (Federal, Water, Transportation, Environmental, Technology) to build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders, regulators, and policymakers.

  • Facilitate government affairs training and communications for Olsson employees.

We have one current opening and will consider candidates interested in being located out of our North Kansas City, MO, Overland Park, KS, Fayetteville or Little Rock, AR offices or working in a hybrid environment aligned with one of these locations.

Qualifications

You bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, public policy, engineering, or a related field.

  • ­­­Minimum 6 years of experience, preferably in government affairs, public affairs, policy, economic development, engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and research skills

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to build connections through networking

  • Creating innovative grassroots approaches to public projects
