MAINTENANCE TIRE/UTILITY TECHNICIAN
The Maintenance Tire/Utility Technician position is a safety sensitive role in the Maintenance Department, ensuring that all tires are DOT compliant on all transit and support vehicles.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:
Professional, knowledgeable, and friendly representation of METRO
Computer and software proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Must have excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
Previous experience in automotive/heavy-duty tire repair is preferred
Current AR Driver’s License required with clean MVR
Flexibility to work scheduled shifts, including nights and weekends
Ability to manage time and workload
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution.
Work in Maintenance tire shop, alongside mechanics, with a focus on ensuring that tires are reliable and safe
Collaborate with assigned administrators and staff to accurately document work performed
Maintain customer tire inventory by utilizing best inventory management practices
Monitor tire maintenance through periodic tire inspections, utilizing specialized software and a combination of electronic digital devices
Maintain and repair all tires according to industry standards
Perform dynamic tire balancing, tire and wheel assembly changes, regrooving, inflation maintenance, utilizing best in class tire related machinery
Maintain shop safety and cleanness through good housing practices
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, such as emptying fare cashboxes, fueling and servicing fleet vehicles
COMPETENCIES:
Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, process work rapidly, set priorities and work under pressure, all while maintaining accuracy of work and completion of assigned tasks with limited supervision
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, customers, and external organization representatives
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be to meet the following:
A. Required Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
B. Required Prior Experience:
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age,
Overall knowledge of automobile and be experienced in the use of tools to perform related work.
C. Special Requirements, including Licenses and/or Certifications:
Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement, issued by the Arkansas Department of Motor Vehicles within 120 days of employment. (Company will help obtain CDL license.)
Must have a good driving record as defined by METRO.
Must have the ability to pass a pre-employment background check, a DOT medical examination, and drug screen.
Experience in automotive/heavy-duty maintenance industry
