The Executive Director of Nursing Services is responsible and accountable for the oversight of all nursing departments within UHealth at Doral. In collaboration with senior administration, nursing and physician leadership, the Executive Director of Nursing Services is responsible for supporting the vision of UHealth at Doral and to promoting a nurturing and compassionate environment of personalized outpatient care.
Accountable for ensuring that each nursing department is efficiently run by the department director in regards to providing quality patient care, fiscal responsibility and consistency with the 5 to Thrive Pillars of the University Health System.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality& Service:
Monitors nursing practice to ensure compliance with patient care, practice standards and safety as part of ongoing performance improvement.
Develops work groups and steering committees to promote collaboration and change.
Establishes and maintains a performance improvement framework to develop and implement ongoing programs to measure, improve and sustain the quality of nursing care delivered to patients.
Serves as an advisor in the development of unit-based standards where these standards may apply to different units or areas to ensure uniformity of practice. Responds to trends in practice and makes recommendations for changes.
Acts as consultant to staff in the interpretation of Joint Commission and other national standards and ensures their integration into policies and procedures, standard of care and practice where nursing care is involved, or that integrates and/or interfaces with nursing care.
Collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer and leadership to develop, implement and review/revise nursing and patient care policies, procedures and guidelines.
Ensures nursing practice meets all requirements of Florida State Board of Nursing and all regulatory agencies.
Accountable for personal development by attending classes, conferences and other pursuits related to role and position.
People:
Directs the screening, interview and hiring process for available nursing positions.
Attends University functions for the purpose of demonstrating management's high value of staff’s contributions to the organization.
Maintains close working relationships with local, regional and state organizations where indicated.
Remains informed of both professional and social issues dealing with health care.
Demonstrates the ability to establish performance expectations; monitor performance; provide feedback; takes corrective action; provides coaching/training; and resolve conflicts.
Motivates and inspires employees to accomplish goals and objectives of department and organization.
Identifies priorities for organizational educational needs.
Interprets, supports and implements organizational decisions, policies and procedures to leadership and staff.
Collaborates with professional and technical schools of nursing in identifying and enhancing clinical education programs in an environment conducive to student learning.
Growth & Operations :
Establishes priorities for all areas under direction. Prepares and administers a budget which provides for personnel , physical facilities and material resources
Directs actions to control expenses. Initiates cost reductions without adversely affecting quality of service.
Recommends changes in administrative policies to carry out organizational objectives more effectively
Recommends changes in practice that increases efficiency and minimizes waste.
Manages resources consistent with the mission, philosophy, goals, functions and standards of the Lennar Foundation Medical Center.
Develops a system that ensures uniform nursing standards of care and practice in all areas of the organization where similar treatments, procedures and nursing care occur.
Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
BSN from an Accredited School of Nursing required, MSN preferred.
State of Florida Registered Nurse License required.
BLS certification required (issued by the American Heart Association).
Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant nursing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form Knowledge of business and management principles Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others. Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
