Charter Care Health Partners Prior Authorization Coordinator (SW) in North Providence, Rhode Island

Summary: The purpose of the Ancillary Support department to facilitate patient & physician request for diagnostic imaging and transfusion services. The Prior Authorization Coordinator would possess service oriented skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to communicate effectively to our customers including patients, physicians, office staff, CharterCARE departments and others, and the flexibility and adaptability to assist outpatient clinics such as the orthopedic clinic as needed The Prior Authorization Coordinator identifies any special needs i.e.: physical, language, or other barriers and addresses appropriately. Other functions may include, obtaining insurance/billing and hospital information, admitting services and maintaining the ancillary support statistics according to protocol. The Prior Authorization Coordinator would effectively coordinate multiple appointments/procedures and referral requests with appropriate staff and resources while utilizing appropriate software. Maintain relevant competent knowledge of healthcare insurances, prior authorization services, and ICD coding consistently maintain established productivity requirements and maintain a 96% or greater accuracy rate.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. College Degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.

Experience: Experience in a high volume call center required. Experience in a healthcare environment preferred. Experience with obtaining diagnostic imaging prior authorization preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while delivering excellent customer service required.

  • Effective communicator and ability to display professional demeanor under pressure required.

  • Strong computer skills in a Windows environment required.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare insurances, and ancillary testing preferred.

  • Must be able to operate/utilize fax machine, copy machine, scanner, and Windows based computer applications.

  • Bilingual skills preferred.

    Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements : General pleasant working environment with little or no distractions or exposure to unpleasant or hazardous elements. Meets all safety training requirements associated with the Company and Access Center. Duties are a combination of extensive mental and manual skills. Manual skills are required such as finger, eye and hand dexterity for such activities as utilization of a computer. Will sit at desk most of the day.
