Opportunity Overview

We are looking for an experienced candidate to join the Hardware Engineering group in the Semiconductor Test Division to spearhead project teams in the development of advanced test and measurement instrumentation.

As the technical design manager for instrumentation, you will help drive the development of new products that are needed by world class semiconductor suppliers that enable 5G and 6G communications, high performance computing and advanced data centers, optical communications, and other emerging markets. This exciting and fast-paced industry requires technical managers that adapt to changing requirements to rapidly develop products with cutting-edge technologies.

Your efforts will be focused on sourcing and measuring the performance of high-speed wireless and digital signaling standards, achieving a balance of features, performance, channel density, and product cost to win in this exciting market. You will work closely with individuals and teams throughout the Semiconductor Test Division, including engineering, applications, operations, product support, marketing, and sales, as well as leverage existing deep internal technical expertise as needed to drive, enable, and build organizational skill in this technology.

This position requires someone who enjoys the excitement of fostering innovations across geographically dispersed teams, and can manage individuals and teams, not necessarily as direct reports, to achieve the goals listed.

The technical design manager for test and measurement instrumentation will have the following goals:

  • Manage cross-functional product development teams to deliver innovative new instruments to key customers

  • Champion the needed technology innovations to be the industry champion in test and measurement instrumentation

  • Negotiate the confluence of product features, performance, cost, and time-to-market to deliver winning products to market when needed

  • Develop skills within the Hardware Engineering organization to improve the efficiency and execution speed of product development

    Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar degree; master’s degree preferred

  • At least 5 years of experience managing product development teams

  • At least 5 years of proven, hands-on design experience in RF and/or high-speed digital circuits, including PCB or MCM/SiP design, layout, and simulation

  • Experience in the design and layout of high-speed digital standards and PHY interfaces: PCIe Gen 4/5/6, 1G/10G/100G Ethernet, USB 3.2/4, Fiber Channel, XAUI, etc.

  • Familiarity with EDA tools including finite element electromagnetic fields solvers, circuit simulation, and layout (HFSS, ADS, Cadence, etc.)

  • Familiarity with signal and power integrity simulation tools

  • Team player with strong human relations skills, able to motivate development teams to deliver best in class results

  • Ability to define product strategies and execution plans that align to corporate goals, and to deliver results
