A Day in the Life of the QC Inspector

The QC Inspector is responsible for the inspection and testing of products to ensure conformance to established quality criteria through an approved inspection process. They assist in data entry and analysis for the purpose of product/supplier improvement.

What are the requirements for this position?

• 1-2 years of experience in a quality role
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
• Intermediate Excel skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing as well as read and interpret written documentation and procedures
• Ability to meet physical demands such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas

Are there any preferred qualifications?

• Preference may be given to individuals who are fluent in Spanish
• Preference may be given to individuals with CQI Certificate from accredited organization such as ASQ
• Preference may be given for those with a basic knowledge and understanding of quality standards (ANSI Z.14, ISO 9001)

Job Responsibilities:

• Uses Orbit's Enterprise Resource Planning Software, the Inventory Management System and other company databases to inspect product with a clear understanding of how the systems interact and the benefits of each system
• Inspects products to ensure conformance to established quality criteria
• Makes necessary mathematical calculations while inspecting parts
• Records inspection information accurately and completely
• Reports discrepancies to appropriate personnel
• Determines discrepancies in product or components and reports them to the quality department's management team
• Communicates clearly about problems that arise with testing equipment and escalates concerns or questions about testing criteria
• Uses existing inspection plans and datasheets and modifies plans and datasheets as specifications change.
• Completes daily metrics required by the management team
• Learns and retains information about Orbit product lines
• Learns new skills as required and as the department improves and changes
• Works with integrity and adheres to Orbit's Business and Ethics Compliance Policy
• Uses ANSI Z1.4 and ISO 9001 and understands the concepts behind the standards and the implications on Orbit's processes.
• Helps with inventory investigations, rework projects and other quality assignments that assist the IQA department and the company with qua ity related issues
• Develops and maintains a basic knowledge of quality standards (ANSI Z.14, ISO 9001)
