Business Development Specialist

Syracuse, NY - Hybrid

As a member of the marketing and sales team at Novanta's Precision Medicine business unit, you will drive commercial growth by promoting the value of automatic identification and detection solutions to medical and industrial OEMs. These solutions include RFID, Machine Vision, and Barcode technology. Our ideal candidate is collaborative, positive, self-motivated, success-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Outreach and Prospecting: Effectively nurture marketing-provided leads and engage in proactive hunting to connect with prospective customers via telephone, email, and video conferencing to identify new engineering projects.
  • Sales Strategizing, Planning and Tracking: Develop daily plans to optimize phone time, create customized phone and email scripts, research and organize target customer hunting lists, and diligently track customer engagement activities in SalesForce.
  • Sales Partnership: Collaborate closely with JADAK's field sales team to identify, hunt and nurture new opportunities, aligning with territory goals and the long-term strategic plan.
  • Performance Metrics: Achieve objectives against Marketing/Sales KPIs, including funnel conversion rates, project numbers, revenue, and lead generation. Own lead funnel metrics from Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) to Sales Qualified Leads (SQL).
  • Marketing Collaboration: Engage in analyzing new marketing projects, gathering prospective customer feedback and insights, and identifying industry trends. Provide valuable input for both outbound and inbound marketing campaigns.
  • Sales Methodology Adherence: Follow modern sales practices to track, record, and document relevant commercial intelligence in SalesForce. Regularly update and input prospect, customer, key task, communication, and lead information for precise forecasting, effective account management, and efficient funnel management.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experienced in best-practice sales acquisition techniques including cold calling, hunting and lead nurturing, along with technical aptitude
  • Be highly motivated and results-driven with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to overcome objections, build relationships, and uncover opportunities with potential customers.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office and Salesforce.com (SFDC).

Compensation and Benefits

  • The base pay for this position is $43,683 to $60,064 per year depending on the geographic market.
  • Dependent on the position offered, annual bonuses and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of the compensation package.
