Saint-Gobain Maintenance Technician in NORTHBORO, Massachusetts

Saint-Gobain Research North America is seeking an experience Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team in our Northborough, MA R&D Center.- As a Maintenance Technician at Saint-Gobain Research North America (SGR NA), you become part of a dynamic and respectful Facilities Operations team, working on various building systems, projects, preventive maintenance, and supporting site work order requests. This position reports to the Sr. Supervisor Maintenance & Operations and is focused on work environments at Northborough MA and associated locations (satellites, storage, swing space, etc).

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for conducting daily building rounds and recording various building systems information to be reviewed with Facilities Engineers for any operating discrepancies. This role supports the Facilities Department’s preventive maintenance and on-demand work order request system; recognizing maintenance and repair problems, developing options for action, and recommending solutions to include preparing work orders, cost implications, sustainability awareness, and energy savings. The applicant will also participate in on-call coverage for all aspects of the Facility Group’s responsibilities: addressing emergency situations in a timely manner, assessing the situation and impact, diagnosing issue(s), determining proper corrective action, securing replacement parts/materials, coordinating work, utilizing outside vendors as needed, and performing repairs while communicating the situation to site leadership for the duration of the emergency. Additional duties for this role include but are not limited to: performing equipment and material moves to off-site storage. completing conference room set-ups and acting as back-up Shipper/Receiver.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of architectural and engineering drawings and designs, building management systems, building codes, fire/life safety detection and suppression systems, environmental management best practices and procedures applicable to facility management, renovations, and construction projects. It is important for the applicant to demonstrate effective leadership with direct and indirect supervision of contractors as well as team building and consensus building skills with colleagues, supervisors, and subordinates.

Ability to work in a very diverse multicultural environment, presenting a positive, capable attitude, and creating a friendly experience for all customers is extremely important. This includes the ability to understand and anticipate customer needs and inform them of the status of their work order requests, while developing and maintaining partnerships with individuals and groups for a high level of customer satisfaction. -Effective verbal and written communication with technical and nontechnical personnel, documentation, use of standard computer software for communication and attention to detail are essential.

  • 5+ years experience as a maintenance technician in an extensive and diverse facility-

  • 5+ years experience maintaining infrastructure systems, machinery, or equipment to include maintenance scheduling, vendor interactions, procurement, hands-on ability

  • 5+ years of experience with building, code and regulatory compliance- Competencies

  • Good computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools;

  • Documentation, record-keeping, scanning and attaching reports to work orders, purchase order issuing.

  • Experienced in collaborating with outside contractors and agencies to coordinate critical project work within regulatory requirements

  • Knowledge of architectural and engineering drawings and designs, building management systems, building codes, fire/life safety detection and suppression systems, environmental management best practices and procedures applicable to facility management, renovations, and construction projects.

  • Fork truck experience (prior license)

  • OSHA 10 class preferred

  • Prior hoist and shipping experience is a plus
