Chenango County Parent Aide in Norwich, New York
Chenango County's Social Services Department has an opening for a PARENT AIDE. Positions with this job title are in the Chenango County Department of Social Services. Duties involve responsibility for helping clients develop and improve skills in such areas as: parenting, budgeting, shopping and household management. Employees in this class make home visits to discuss and demonstrate daily living skills and parenting skills, and to assess client needs and progress. Duties also involve responsibility for transporting clients to appointments and providing care for children during transports or while waiting for appointments; monitoring parent visitations with children in foster care placement; and testifying in court. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Case Supervisor, Grade B. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of employees in this class. A significant amount of travel is required to fulfill the duties of this position. Does related duties as required.<p>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <li>Either (A) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma; OR <li>(B) One year of full-time experience or its part-time/volunteer equivalent as a foster parent, day care provider, teacher aide, or in a position involving the care of children and interaction with their parents; OR <li>(C) One year of full-time experience or its part-time/volunteer equivalent working with the emotionally, mentally or physically challenged.<p>
The position has a 37 1/2 hour work week and 2023 starting pay rate is $17.11 per hour and includes a full benefits package.<p> A Civil Service examination will be required for permanent appointment at a later date.
