Chenango County Personnel Clerk in Norwich, New York

The Chenango County Personnel Office has an opening for a PERSONNEL CLERK. The incumbent applies specific concepts established by law, rules, policy, and labor agreements in the maintenance of records, the processing of personnel forms, the review of applications, and assures compliance with Civil Service Law, rules, and contractual provisions. Duties also involve answering phones; typing and formatting letters and reports; maintaining office files; ordering Civil Service Examinations; preparing exam announcements; maintains eligible lists, roster records, position vacancy records, veterans' credits roster, and preferential hiring lists; and monitors Civil Service examinations most of which are scheduled on Saturdays. Considerable contact with the public and employees is required in carrying out assignments and responsibilities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Deputy Personnel Officer. Does related work as required.<p> Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have graduated from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and EITHER:<li> A)Possession of an Associates Degree in Office Technology, Business Administration or a closely related field; OR <li>B)Two years of full-time clerical experience which included responsibility for typing correspondence.<p> Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance, Generous leave time benefits and paid holidays, NYS Retirement System membership, 457(b) tax deferred retirement savings plan, Eligibility for federal student loan forgiveness program<p> Special Requirement: At time of appointment and continuing throughout employment a candidate/incumbent must possess a valid New York State Drivers License, a reliable vehicle, and a driving record acceptable to the Countys insurance carrier.<br> Rate of pay is $41,000 annually and includes a full benefit package.
