About The Role:
Bowery Farming is seeking ambitious Production Team Leads who can learn quickly, thrive in a fast-paced & flexible environment, and are willing to roll up their sleeves. Be a part of a team that produces locally grown fresh leafy greens and herbs from our indoor automated vertical farm in Nottingham, Maryland to our retail and restaurant customers in the local area! This is a hands-on job maintaining the taste, quality, and freshness of our produce and assisting in their daily care.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm OR
Monday-Friday: 10:30 am - 7:00 pm
**Must be available to work occasional weekends as needed
What You'll Do:
Support and guide a team of farm operators to ensure that the farm stays on schedule, throughout the production process
Deliver structured & ongoing training to modern farmers & farm operators as required, utilizing Bowery’s learning management system
Ensure operators and farmers have the right tools, knowledge, and equipment required to do their jobs effectively and safely
Coach operators and modern farmers on expectations relative to product safety and quality, as well as standard operating procedures across the farm
Maintain staffing expectations throughout the shift, driving compliance to production playbooks at stations across the farm
Maintain responsibility for overall performance of the shift, including safety, quality, productivity, and delivery; understand and drive key metrics in the farm
Coordinate staffing to maintain production areas in compliance with company quality, sanitation, and food safety standards
Provide a safe working environment by guiding operators on your shift to maintain a clean working environment and the quality of equipment on the production floor
Drive adherence to the farm’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all stations
Maintain documentation critical to opening and closing farm operations and maintaining quality during the shift; participate in continuous improvement work as appropriate
Promote an environment of continuous improvement and commitment to quality by participating in troubleshooting through the shift and escalating issues appropriately
Support farm operators in identifying and triaging technical and operational issues throughout the course of the shift
Participate in farm leadership meetings as appropriate; surfacing issues within the last 24 hrs and support plans to mitigate risk and achieve farm goals
Escalate issues with operator or farmer behaviors or performance to supervisors
Who You Are:
You have experience in a greenhouse/farm or warehouse production team role with demonstrated ability to lead a team
You are at least 18 years old
You have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent
You are passionate about sustainability and healthy food
You have a positive attitude and strong work ethic
You are capable of learning and leading strict food safety and sanitary standards
You are flexible with changing work responsibilities
You are able to commit to a consistent set of scheduled days, including holidays that land on your scheduled days (the farm operates seven days a week)
Able to work up to 4 days weekly for 12-hour shifts (breaks and lunch included)
You have a reliable form of transportation
You are authorized to work in the US
You are familiar with PC or Mac, and you are able to use a tablet or smartphone
You are comfortable with Physical Requirements including:
○ You can lift and move objects up to 49 pounds each
○ You can stand for hours at a time
○ You are capable of bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
