Job Summary Lead a group of Lead Engineers, Engineers and Technicians to develop a multi-part product (system), or multi-step processes to a set of defined specifications. Responsibilities Understand customer engineering organization and build relationships with engineering and technology key decision makers. Understand customer product issues and opportunities for product improvements. Ensure customer engineering groups understand Yanfeng technical capabilities. Support teams with program specific issues. Inform customer engineering leadership of significant launch, production or timing related issues (no surprises). Provide single contact point for escalation to customer engineering. Provide Leadership to the Group following the YFSS (Yanfeng Safety Systems) leadership expectation model. Make complex decisionsand guidance of securing new business awards. Manage resources and budgetsfrom award through SOP. Communicate with the teams and peer engineering managers to share best business practicesthrough LEAN Engineering. Ensures documents, processes and procedures are managed and maintained using all YFSS standards and systems (BOS, PRP, Lean, CPP, CMP, EPIC, BEP, etc) Successfully fulfill people leadership and people development responsibilities, including providing mentorship and support of the team; succession planning; resource planning, etc. Education Bachelors Degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, or similar), or equivalent experience in a technical career path Qualifications: 7 years experience in the automotive industry Experience in safety restraints highly desired. Experience leading programs and teams with full engineering responsibility. Airbag design, development, and launch expertise demonstrated on multiple programs preferably with North American OEMs. Airbag module testing and performance analysis experience. Knowledge of plastic part design for injection molding. Knowledge of Injection Mold Tooling (gates, parting lines, action, etc.) as it relates to part design. Plastic resin and materials selection knowledge as related to airbag modules. Experience using CAE as a design and product optimization tool. Dimensional management and tolerancing experience. Ability to develop component and sub-assembly GD&T tolerancing and tolerance stack-up studies in support of manufacturing & craftsmanship goals. Ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner in a team environment. Identify and address issues in a direct, data driven manner. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. PMP training or Program Management experience desired. Chinese- or Spanish language skills desirable, but not required. Self-motivated and enthusiastic; coaching leadership style. Available as needed for domestic and international travel, up to 25%.
