About the Role Principal Engineer Functional Safety will guide Harman hardware, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure that all needed Safety properties are considered, implemented, and validated. Being HW FUSA lead covers the highest level of Safety requirements such as ASIL-D and failed operationally.

In our cross-functional organization, you will be the primary contact for hardware functional Safety deliverables and continuously report the status to key stakeholders. Based on your broad experience you will prepare and propose appropriate measures mitigating functional safety risks.

What You Will Do

Lead and establish HW safety requirement specifications and HW design specifications aligning with customer requirements.

Work with system architects covering the hardware scope in HSIS (Hardware-Software Interface Specification)

Collaborate with Safety Manager in defining the Hardware Safety Concept

Lead the team for FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects, & Diagnostic Analysis) and FTA (Fault-Tree Analysis) deliverables

Define HW verification scope and deliverables.

Review and approve HW Verification, Validation, and Safety-Analysis reports.

Define fault-injection scope and their test cases and guide the team executing the test cases.

Lead the HW team managing comprehensive component-level DFMEA scope and risk mitigation measures.

Conduct Safety Management for an ASIL D customer application project including continuous planning and reporting of the Functional Safety activities and status.

Actively drive risk management and if necessary, prepare and follow through measures to closure.

Elicit, document, and review functional Safety requirements (ASIL) in line with the architectural definition: external with customer and supplier; internal with HARMAN engineering disciplines.

Consult with key stakeholders on design scope and parameters enabling ASIL-D performance of fail-operational systems.

Execute safety analyses according to target architectures and determine Safety performance.

Guide the HW development teams for effective Safety engineering.

Plan & assess the product development status for functional safety at various stages of the product lifecycle.

Derive and align the necessary verification and validation activities with internal and external partners.

What You Need

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent.

10+ years' experience in hardware Functional-Safety areas with strong technical leadership qualities.

Profound knowledge in Safety critical systems and the related standards (ISO26262, ISO21434, ISO21448), best-known methodologies to implement Safety properties up to ASIL D and fail operational.

Highly knowledgeable in Systems-Theoretic-Process-Analysis, Functional Safety analyses FTA, FMEDA, DFA, FMEA, and Hazard and Risk Analyses, etc.

Methodical, structured work style and experience in translating strategies into actionable plans.
