New York State Insurance Fund Information Technology Specialist 2 - Software Quality Assurance (NY HELPS) in NYC, New York
Duties Description:As a member of NYSIF’s Software Quality Assurance Testing Team, incumbents of these positions will play a key role in testing software to meet the essential business needs of the agency. As a member of the testing team, incumbents will assist in creating, documenting, and executing test including automated tests. Duties include but are not limited to:• Conducting Application Test Automation.• Using risk-driven techniques to develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites for various applications, i.e., perform automated functional and regression testing.• Working with the Development team to capture and reuse automated Unit Test Cases, and other Development test objects.• Executing test cases• Documenting and evaluating test results• Detecting, logging, and reporting defects.• Reviewing test procedures and developing test scripts.Minimum Qualifications:• One year of permanent, competitive class service as an Information Technology• Specialist 1; OR• One year of permanent, competitive class service as an Information Technology• Specialist 2; OR• One year of permanent, competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer Section• 52.6 of the Civil Service Law; OR• Bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours• in computer science; OR• Bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field AND one year of experience in information• technology; OR• 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in• computer science AND one year of experience in information technology; OR• Two years of experience in information technology.Note: Certain math and business courses although taken as part of a computer science curriculum, are not counted towards the 15 semester credit hours.Preferred Qualifications:• Experience in creating and executing automated tests.Additional Comments:Please note, the salary range shown includes location pay and/or geographic pay.For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
