Position Purpose:

Under general supervision, operates engine generators, electric blowers and associated equipment in the power plant and digester galleries. Performs minor maintenance duties throughout power plan within a wastewater treatment plant setting.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Required to follow all applicable safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in performance of assigned duties. Is required to participate in all required safety training activities. Is expected to report any unsafe conditions encountered in performance of duties.

  • Monitors and operates engine generator to supply electric power to the plant, maintaining operation within predetermined limits to meet changing levels of electrical demand.

  • Monitors and operates electric blowers to supply low pressure compressed air to purification process, maintaining operation within determined limits to meet changing requirements.

  • Monitors and operates other power plant machinery and equipment such as sludge heaters, cooling/heating pumps and gas compressors.

  • Operates and maintains proper quality and quantity of gas flow to engine room and/or gas storage.

  • Monitors and operates low pressure steam and hot water boilers.

  • Make frequent inspection of all operating equipment in the power plant, including dial and gauge readings.

  • Performs minor maintenance in blower generator digester building complex, such as engine adjustments, oiling and cleaning.

  • Maintains electronic and /or paper log of work activity so the following shift has a written summary of all pertinent changes made and make reports as required.

  • Cleans equipment and maintains neat, clean work area. Reports all unsafe conditions and malfunctioning equipment properly.

  • Collects samples and runs test for cooling/heating loops water and low-pressure boiler water.

  • Monitors and operates via Rockwell SCADA system.

  • Monitors and operates electrical distribution systems.

  • Performs other duties of a similar level and nature as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma, GED Equivalent or Higher.

  • (2) years of engine operating experience or (3) years of experience operating and/or maintaining heavy equipment.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License is required.

  • ASOPE First Class Operating Engineer's License required within two year of appointment.
