Job Summary

This position can be based out of any one of our nuclear facilities in Perry, OH Oak Harbor, OH, Glen Rose, TX or Shippingport, PA.

This role is accountable for development and implementation of an organization responsible for self-performing reactor head area maintenance to include disassembly, reassembly, refueling, inspection of reactor components for multiple reactor types within the Vistra Fleet and perform dry cask storage loading campaigns.

Ther Director, Fleet Refueling Services ensures that the VISTRA Refueling Services organization develops, implements, and improves head area maintenance, procedures, processes and activities required to execute planned refueling outages and reactor maintenance.

Additionally, the role integrates refueling area scoping and execution with station outage plans to ensure top decile outage performance is sustained. Will maintain the fleet long range plan for reactor maintenance while working with station RCS engineers to deliver refueling outages within business goals.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

  • Implementing reactor services maintenance for all fleet plants that supports top decile outage performance (safety, schedule, budget).

  • Implement dry fuel campaigns for all fleet plants that support business goals and preserve Spent Fuel Pool margins for full core offloads.

  • Technical understanding of reactor components and procedures.

  • Must work well with vendors, provide oversight, have knowledge of vendor contracts performance requirements and capable of managing cost, schedule and resources.

  • Clear and logical thinking in stressful situations involving complex technical problems; ability to manage a multi-discipline team of professionals; ability to advise, negotiate and resolve conflict; ability to effectively interface with peers; ability to interface with site organizations to support both operating and outage activities.

  • Responsible for maintenance and use of all specialty tooling and fuel handling equipment used for reactor maintenance and dry fuel activities across the fleet.

  • Ability to lead and motivate managers, project managers and individual contributors.

  • Foster an organizational culture that promotes the utilization of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

  • 15+ years work related experience including reactor maintenance, fuel handling, project management, engineering, contract management, or comparable work

  • Significant and current knowledge of refueling outage strategies and how reactor maintenance contributes to their success and/or dry cask storage loading strategies.

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering (recommended) or High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (recommended).
