Job Title: Senior Accountant - Controller

Location: Oak Ridge, TN

Status: Full-Time – Exempt

RSI is recruiting for a Senior Accountant – Controller who will oversee general accounting processes such as inter- company cash, cash management, government accounting, financial reporting, project accounting, and / or balance sheet management. This role will be responsible for overseeing accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure adherence to regulations and organization guidelines. This position will report to the Business Services Vice President.

Primary responsibilities and essential functions:

  • Monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts.

  • Record various types of journal entries - accruing, reversing, reclassing, and adjusting.

  • Assists with forecasts and annual budgeting process.

  • Maintain the chart of accounts for budgeting, recording, & reporting purposes.

  • Review, prepare and record intercompany transactions with parent company.

  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly financial closing process.

  • Compile and analyze financial information at the direction of the Controller and President.

  • Ensure accurate project accounting in coordination with project manager and staff.

  • Compile, analyze and distribute WIP report to branches and management team.

  • Reconcile work-in-progress schedule to the general ledger.

  • Ensure proper revenue recognition calculated through WIP report.

  • Prepare Reporting Package for parent company consisting of Trial Balance, Financial Statements, Supplemental Schedules and reconciled WIP Report for Controller review.

  • Assist Controller in preparing and completing the annual financial statement audit.

  • Ensure all accounting and financial activities are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Company policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with others in accounting and finance to support overall department goals and objectives.

  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

  • Support AR, AP, and Purchasing Functions.

  • Responsible for the accounting and analysis of capital expenditures.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ Years of Accounting Experience required.

  • A strong financial background is necessary, must be detail oriented, analytical and possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Advanced computer skills including Excel.

  • Construction industry/project accounting experience is preferred.

  • Experience with Government Accounting a plus.

  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration is required.
