Summary:

The Manager, Leave and Disability position reports to the Director, US Benefits. This position will be managing the leave and disability team and will serve as a subject matter expert regarding compliance of state and national laws and regulations supporting the leave and disability function.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspects of leave and workers’ compensation programs.

  • Serves as the subject matter expert for the leave and workers’ compensation programs in alignment and under the general direction and guidance of Leadership and the legal department.

  • Interprets and manages leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.).

  • Ensures that the workers’ compensation program is managed in accordance with applicable OSHA and workers’ compensation laws.

  • Produces and manages reporting metrics and analytics for all leave cases and workers’ compensation claims. Presents reports as requested.

  • Partners closely with carriers on all leave cases and workers’ compensation claims.

  • Meets regularly with carriers to review claims’ status and develops strategies for resolution.

  • Assists in the creation and facilitation of leave administration and workers’ compensation training programs.

  • Advises HR on the interaction of the various leave entitlements and the ADA

  • Recommends, formulates, and implements policies and procedures as it relates to leave and disability.

  • Regularly communicates with human resources representatives and other stakeholders to ensure mutual positive relationships.

  • Analyzes and resolves problem situations and recommends appropriate action.

  • Develops a roadmap, determines priorities, and supervises the work of the leave and disability team.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years of experience in managing leave cases (FMLA, STD) and workers’ compensation claims

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role for at least 3 years. Preferred experience with an employer with more than 3,000 employees.

  • Proficient in MS Office, and HRMS system, Workday preferably

  • Ability to analyze information and convert related activities into a comprehensive work plan.

  • Ability to communicate and make recommendations to leadership.

  • Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to multi-task and drive multiple projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential information.

  • Demonstrated problem solving, time management and priority setting skills.
