Bay Area Community Resources Expanded Learning Program Inclusion Specialist (Montclair Elementary) in Oakland, California

We are seeking a committed and passionate expanded learning instructors to change the future of students by leading academic, physical, and enrichment activities as part of our team. As a inclusion specialist instructor, you will lead and mentor up to 10 youth in an expanded learning setting. Benefits:

  • Pay rate: $25/hour

  • Hours per week: 20 hours, plus PD

Minimum Requirements:

  • Some experience required

  • Ability to reliably commute to Oakland

  • Commitment to education equity and leadership

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • 1 year experience working with students with special needs

Preferred:

  • Commitment to a full school year

  • Ability to practice open, clear, and consistent communication and commitment to participate in professional development.

  • Knowledge of de escalation strategies, behavior management, behavior plans, and teamwork to support whole child

  • Experience in being able to read and understand IEP's/504's

Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain the emotional well-being of the students

  • Provide a safe environment

  • Assisting management/leadership with children that are experiencing behavior issues, social/emotional distress and high functioning SPED students

  • Assist with the day time school connection/communication

  • Be an integral part of the "whole child" philosophy and supporting guardians

  • Assist with behavior plans and enforcing them during program hours

  • Ability to be a part of team meetings regarding said children

Above is the pay range for this position that we reasonably expect to pay. Individual compensation is based on various factors including experience/education, skillset, and geographic location.
