Job Description:

The Skilled Laborer operates non drilling equipment or cranes, performs a range of labor tasks, and assists with daily construction activities in support of the project. Must be skilled at following instructions from the project supervision to assist in preparing and maintaining the job site.

  • Follow company and project site health and safety guidelines and perform all tasks in a safe manner
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations as directed by the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, Project Foreperson, or Field Engineer
  • Responsible for safe operations of one of the following:
    • Skid-Steer
    • Forklift
    • Concrete pump
    • Backhoe Loader
    • Track hoe Loader
    • Excavator
    • Water or Dump Trucks
    • Other small equipment as needed
  • Complete daily equipment inspection reports and other paperwork as necessary
  • Perform general equipment preventive maintenance, including oils check and refueling
  • Load, unload, and prepare any tools or materials needed to complete the build
  • Perform activities and assist with lifting, positioning, and securing materials and tools
  • Perform general housekeeping duties, i.e., trash or building materials removed from the site
  • Cooperatively work with team members through all stages of the project
  • Abilityto read, and interpret safety warnings, signals, and guidelines
  • Receive and follow verbal and written instructions and effectively communicate with co-workers
  • Abilityto use hand signals to spot and direct the drill rig and other construction equipment
  • Function as a fire watch during various temperature work operations
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Perform other job duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and/or carry items weighing up to forty (40) pounds
  • Must have strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas
  • Ability to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 12 hours per day in all weather conditions and noise levels
  • May be required to work 12-hour shifts performing construction-based labor in varying temperature extremes and conditions
  • May, on occasion, work up to 16 hours in a single shift
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion from operating hand and foot controls of the equipment
  • Visual acuity, depth perception, and color discrimination consistent with that required of DOT medical certification
  • Ability to mount and dismount equipment and maintain balance
  • Ability to hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, as well as hear creaks, pings, and any other anomalies in equipment prior to, during, or after any lift or positioning of material/load
