BizOps Engineer Intern, Summer 2025 – United States

This role is not eligible for Mastercard’s work authorization sponsorship. About the Team

Mastercard's Business Operations (BizOps) teams are the stewards for production readiness for the platform, by managing, mitigating, or elevating awareness of the business risk of all customer interactions with Mastercard’s technology platforms. We accomplish this by linking every technology recommendation with a business value, continuously monitoring platform health indicators, and elevating awareness when one of our main objectives is at risk.

Internship Program

Mastercard’s summer internship program provides emerging talent with projects that will enhance skills as well as contribute to the department’s goals and objectives. In this program, you will participate in:

  • Networking events, mentorship opportunities, and hear from senior leaders

  • Volunteer and team building opportunities

  • Formal performance assessments

  • End-of-summer presentations to peers and Mastercard leadership

Role Description

As a BizOps Engineering Intern, you will:

  • React: the service management functions that are largely unplanned but help oversee our platforms and return to service when issues arise

  • Protect: our service readiness activities, aimed at preventing production issues for our programs

  • Enable: the automation activities at enable programs to run faster and flawlessly

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program majoring in Computer Science or a related field with a graduation date of December 2025 or beyond

  • Have a strong focus and interest in technology (Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or another related field)

  • Familiarity with agile software development; exposure to application development lifecycles and how it integrates with operations

  • Basic understanding of infrastructure, middleware, ITSM fundamentals, database, project management

  • Experience with Java, SQL, Python, Linux preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent communication skills, ability and willingness to tackle complex problems

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
