Lead Software Engineer

Overview:

Mastercard Digital Labs is seeking a Lead Software Engineer with a strong background in mobile and app development and a passion for cutting-edge technologies, to join our customer facing dynamic team.

As a key member of our team, you will be a member of a highly agile team of engineers within Digital Labs, working to build product prototypes and pilots, in collaboration with global brands in commerce.

This is not a full-time coder position but rather a consultancy role where you will spend a significant portion of your time engaging with clients and stakeholders. This position requires significant travel (30%-40%) within the US and Canada. You will be joining a globally disturbed team.

Role:

• Work with highly skilled multidisciplinary teams globally to deliver front-end technology solutions.

• Collaborate with UX designers, QA, and Product Owners to define, size, and implement user stories.

• Prototype new products and features and upgrade existing technologies.

• Explore how different technologies (e.g., Scale AI, Cloud, GenAI, AR/VR) can be used to solve client business problems.

• Prepare key architectural materials including component diagrams, sequence diagrams, and data flow diagrams.

• Work closely with clients to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements and solutions and prepare technical requirement documents.

• Design and build creative, usable, and compelling applications.

• Ensure all projects are completed on time and to world-class standards with clean, well-designed code.

• Drive architectural decisions to ensure the scalability, flexibility, and maintainability of mobile applications.

• Think creatively and contribute new ideas to the team in terms of best practices, patterns, and technologies that would lead to delivery efficiencies.

• Work with Digital Lab workshop facilitators to deliver client-facing workshops across the innovation lifecycle from ideation through to architecture and delivery.

All About You:

• Previous experience as Software Engineering, Software Development, Mobile Engineer or Application Developer.

• Experience designing and implementing enterprise integration patterns.

• Experience designing REST/GraphQL interfaces and building solutions in the FinTech space.

• Hands-on experience with any of the following: Java, Spring Boot, Angular, native iOS/Android, React, React Native, Swift.

• Proven experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining software applications.

• Strong understanding of mobile application architecture and design patterns.

• Experience with backend technologies in addition to frontend and mobile development.

• Experience in rapid prototyping and the use of modern frameworks.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and clients.

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex issues.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

• Willingness to travel 30%-40% of the time within the US and Canada.

• Prior experience in both startup and corporate environments.

Desired skills:

• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Git, Jira, and Jenkins.

• Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, Scale AI, or Databricks.

• Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and experience working with design teams.

• Experience working in a globally distributed team.

• Experience in payment protocols (an advantage but not essential).

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. Pay Ranges

O'Fallon, Missouri: $138,000 - $221,000 USD

Arlington, Virginia: $159,000 - $254,000 USD
