Title and Summary

Senior Data Center Engineer

Overview: This role involves working with a team focused on hands-on technical work, specifically in installing net new and decommissioning legacy systems while also integrating ESG initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for playing a critical role in achieving our sustainability goals. This role will support investigating and executing against opportunities to consolidate, decommission, or improve infrastructure to achieve Net Zero by 2040 goals.

Major Accountabilities:

•Manage Data Center development, builds and maintain mastercard technologies.

•Develop detailed requirements for upgrading existing corporate and MasterCard Data Centers, as well as re-architecting Data Centers to facilitate new requirements, technologies, and growth.

•Supports holistic sustainability initiatives which includes identifying risks, escalating potential concerns, and implementing both risk mitigation plans and control functions

•Support Vendor management.

•Provide strategic technical direction on highly complex Data Center projects and activities involving the selection and recommendation of design approach.

•Serves as a point of escalation, resolving problems of diverse scopes where analysis of the situation requires in-depth technical evaluation and judgement.

•Supports process improvement efforts to identify and test opportunities for automation and/or reduction in time to deployment.

•Performs security posture, which includes proactively identifying security risks and implementing both risk mitigation plans and control functions.

• May manage small-sized global sustainability initiatives and independently contributes to system-level programs and drive process improvement and deliver

• Coordinates activities across dependent teams and with Sustainable Technology program to prioritize the execution of efficiency and emissions reduction opportunities

• Investigates multiple systems of record to identify and execute against opportunities to increase energy and carbon efficiency of infrastructure

Education:

•Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Math, or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Formal business or management training including Project Management, Strategic Planning, some finance experience, and related curriculum.

Knowledge / Experience:

•Five to eight years of overall IT experience in the following areas: - Networking, including LAN/WAN, Firewalls, wireless, Security and encryption technologies and Data Center technologies.

•Experience with TCP/IP protocol communications.

•Knowledge of Telecommunication circuits.

•Advanced knowledge of Project Management methodology and best practices.

•Knowledge of Network diagnostics, BGP, SNMP, VPN, SSH, MPLS technologies.

•Experience leveraging ITSM processes and best practices

•Experience in assessing and actioning against opportunities to increase infrastructure efficiency

•Experience in implementing sustainability best practices in infrastructure

•Experience in implementing and improving the end-to-end decommissioning processes of physical servers

•Experience in assessing and implementing the consolidation of infrastructure for efficiency through technology refresh cycles

Skills/ Abilities:

•Strong verbal and written communications skills.

•Self-starter with demonstrated listening skills.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. O'Fallon, Missouri: $94,000 - $157,000 USD
