PETERSEN INCORPORATED Estimating Technician in OGDEN, Utah

Job Summary: This position is responsible to assist the estimators with analyzing the request for quote (RFQ), specifications, drawings and other documentation. Primary responsibility is completing Bill of Material (BOM) take-offs and inputting correctly into the material and time estimating software. Interface between estimating and purchasing, follow-up with vendor quotes and researches buyout items and questions. Backup for estimating coordinator to set-up quotes and jobs.

Essential Functions: Include but not limited to: * Process analysis * Bill of Material (BOM) take-off and populate estimating software * Compile bill of materials to go to purchasing * Coordinates material quotes between estimating and purchasing * Follow-up with vendors on material pricing * Researches buyout and raw material items * Problem solving * Produce quality reports that are well organized, clearly stated, and concise in a timely manner * Maintain safe environment * Other duties as assigned by Manager Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of a variety of Microsoft Office Professional applications Basic business writing skills and ability to produce quality reports that are well organized, clear and concise in a timely manner Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills Ability to communicate with management, team members and vendors Excellent follow-through skills. Able to establish and maintain trust, unity, and partnering with management, team members, and customers. Must be a strong advocate of the company vision and mission statement.

Preferred Knowledge: General knowledge of blueprint reading, shop math with some familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDandT) General knowledge of manufacturing materials, material types and grades Basic knowledge of manufacturing activities (pre-processing (cutting and forming), fitting, welding, assembly and machining) Basic knowledge of material and time estimating software also 3D modeling software (e.g. Solidworks, Catia, etc.)

Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or GED preferred.

Essential Mental Functions: Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people. Is frequently called upon to handle difficult situations. Must be able to communicate, providing feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to answer questions in a professional and friendly manner. Requires occasional public contact. Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.

Essential Physical Functions: Requires sitting for prolonged periods. Requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines such as computer, photocopier, calculator, etc. Requires ability to give and receive communication to different levels of the organization.

Safety Requirements: * Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others * Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all the employer's safety policies and rules. Must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

Availability: * Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance. * Must be available and willing to work overtime as the employer determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
