Summary: This position is primarily responsible to insure the safe pumping practices of pond brines. Insure correct pumping hours and acre feet are met by monitoring each individual station and giving feedback to pond controllers and or supervisor of potential problems. This position will work rotating shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)

  • Insures proper exchange of current conditions and potential problems with relief at beginning of shift and also at end of shift to insure a smooth transition from one pumper to the next.

  • Do a safety walk-around inspection on pickup truck insuring fluid levels are up, brakes, lights and all safety items are functional.

  • Makes rounds to each individual pump station through the shift by driving safely from one point to another. At each station checks equipment to insure proper operation. Fills dripper oil reservoirs, may routinely have to lift one gallon and five gallon jugs of oil. At times the need to replace grease barrels and nitrogen bottles may exist, need to get help for these to not exceed 50lb. lifting limits.

  • While traveling the dikes from station to station, inspection of dikes for integrity should be done reporting any potential issues.

  • Inspection of portable pumps are also done throughout the shift as well, check fluid levels, guarding etc to insure the safe operation of portable pumps. May assist pond crew at times with the moving or setting of portable pumps.

  • Flushing of all pumps as needed to remove salt buildup. This will include using a water truck and some water line repair.

  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

  • Ability to run backhoe or other equipment as needed.

Deliverables:

  • Ability to perform Lock-out Tag-out for all equipment within pond operation.

  • Insure correct pumping hours and acre feet are met to maintain pond chemistry, coverage and meet tonnage requirements during the evaporation season.

  • Maximize pumping for flushing during the mineral return season.

  • Monitor pond 205 level to insure Mgcl2 plant brine needs are being met.

  • Will make small repairs to equipment as needed when practical. Will notify pond controller and or supervisor for needed repairs outside of their capability.

Education and Experience : Must have a high school diploma and previous experience or education demonstrating the ability to operate pond pumping equipment

Computer Skills: Limited need. Must be able to complete CBT safety training.

Competency: Show the ability to operate ponds pumping equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Interpersonal Skills - Ability to interact effectively with others and work effectively as a member of a team.

Written Communication - Concise, complete and well organized written communications are essential Ability to read, analyze and interpret job related information. Able to complete reports/logs accurately, in an understandable manner and legibly.

Planning/Organizing - Must be able to plan and organize a schedule that is conducive to position duties. Must have the ability to independently and effectively plan organize, coordinate and follow-up on assignments. Must be able remain on task in disruptive setting.

Essential Job Functions :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
