(https://dys.ohio.gov/) Job Duties The Opportunity… We are seeking a General Activities Therapist 2 at our Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility. Duties include but are not limited to: + Plans, conducts, implements and monitors general recreational, personal development, structured therapeutic and entertainment activities for youth + Serves as a member of interdisciplinary team and analyzes, assesses, evaluates, defines and recommends group and or individual treatment goals and activities. + Observes participants during activities. + Serves in instructional capacity for youth. + Prepares and maintains reports for treatment team regarding individual behavior and progress regarding individual recreational program activities. + Prepares and maintains inventory records of equipment tools and materials. + Prepares weekly activity schedule Why Work for the State of Ohio: At the State of Ohio, we take care of the team that cares for Ohioans. Qualifications Completion of associate degree in recreational area; 24 mos. exp. in activity therapy or recreation. -Or completion of undergraduate core program in recreation area (e.g., physical education); 12 mos. exp. in activity therapy or recreation. -Or 12 mos. exp. as General Activities Therapist 1, 44211. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. Job Skills: Therapy/Therapeutical Services, Juvenile Corrections, Adaptability, Collaboration, Customer Focus Supplemental Information: The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check that includes results from BCI & FBI, Public Safety, and State of Ohio Taxation. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration. All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services must partake in paid, mandatory 4 weeks of training. Week 1 is held at IRJCF, weeks 2 through 4 are held in Orient, Ohio, 10-hour training days, Monday through Thursday. The state of Ohio covers transportation, meals and lodging.
