ASRC Federal Holding Company Information Security Specialist Level 3 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

ASRC Federal System Solutions supports the FAA NAS ESS (Federal Aviation Administration National Airspace System Engineering Support Services) contract. Join our growing team as an Information Security Specialist Level 3 in support of the FAA’s AJW-1452 team. The AJW-1452 Team provides support for the FAA’s Beacon Interrogator systems. National Airway Systems Engineering (NASE) Information Security Specialists serve systems security needs in support of assigned National Airspace System (NAS) facilities, systems, and equipment. NAS Engineering has a unique organizational responsibility to formally issue changes to operational FAA NAS systems through problem analysis, design, and implementation of hardware, software, adaptation, and technical documentation modifications. These changes result in correction of design flaws, reduction in logistics costs and field workload, new or expanded capabilities, and/or major life extension redesign.

Typical Information Systems Security (ISS) Specialist assignments may include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing, monitoring, planning and implementing security measures to protect computer systems, networks, and data for National Airspace System (NAS) facilities, systems, and equipment.

  • SAN and NAS setup and configuration

  • Automation and scripting (PowerShell)

  • Security

  • Monitoring/Maintenance of Servers

  • Windows Server Administration

  • Active Directory Administration

  • Static IPs and DHCP configuration

  • Hardware device management

  • Servers/Routers/Switches/UPS Management

  • Database Management (PostgreSQL)

  • IPV6

  • Virtualization

  • Configure and maintain servers

  • IT infrastructure optimization and monitoring

  • Account access management/creates/edits user accounts/roles

  • Keep data secure.

  • Develop and implement network maintenance procedures

  • Develop standard operating procedures and documentation.

  • Install, configure, and maintain various types of hardware and software

  • Create user accounts,

  • Perform backup and recovery functions

  • Monitor the performance of servers at all times.

  • Configure, manage, and implement operating systems.

  • In charge of backups and retrieval/restoration of resources.

  • Administer and maintain system accounts through Active Directory.

  • Design and deploy secure server processes.

  • Provides support to ensure assigned NAS systems comply with agency ISS standards and policies within the scheduled milestones.

  • Provides analytical and technical security recommendations to other team members, oversight organizations, and stakeholders to help specify and negotiate security requirements.

  • Creates, maintains, and documents security baselines.

  • Provides risk analysis for vulnerabilities, incidents, and change requests.

  • Develops documentation to support ongoing security systems operations, maintenance, disaster recovery, and specific problem resolution.

  • Recommends security enhancements and purchases.

  • Functions as technical lead during a security incident response.

  • ISS Specialists are expected to stay up-to-date on the latest intelligence, including hackers’ methodologies, in order to anticipate security breaches.

  • ISS Specialists also are responsible for preventing data loss and service interruptions by researching new technologies that will effectively protect a network.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs multiple, varying and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a Technical Manager or more experienced coworker.

  • Acts as principal information systems security specialist or as a project manager or team leader for large work activities.

  • Applies experience and comprehensive technical knowledge as well as an understanding of new technologies and methodologies, to solve complex problems and develop improved technical processes or systems.

  • Considers the objectives of the internal and external organizations when developing, integrating, and implementing solutions to diverse, complex problems.

  • Assignments frequently require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational lines.

  • Allocates resources to accomplish large work activities within established schedules.

  • Often represents FAA as a senior technical point of contact on projects, programs and other work activities.

  • Plays a lead role in drafting, reviewing, and editing reports for final approval prior to external distribution.

  • Presents briefings to obtain consensus/approval on technical matters.

  • Coordinates significant technical matters with representatives of external organizations.

  • Draws on experience to solve unusual problems.

  • Provides guidance to lower-level contract staff on how to solve difficult technical issues.

  • Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of contract management or a more experienced coworker.

  • Develops plans, techniques to address current or anticipated problems and issues.

  • Works with both contract and FAA management to solve problems.

  • Work is reviewed at project completion to ensure technical compliance and alignment with the requirements of the project or other work activity.

  • Work activities typically impact directly on the objectives of one or more organizations.

  • In some areas, the work may affect the safety and security of customers.

Requirements :

US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required. All applicants must have resided in the United States for the past 3 years .

  • Experience with NAS facilities, systems, and equipment is desirable.

  • Knowledge and application of Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA) requirements, and associated National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications and Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) is desirable.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to pass a background check.

  • Requires onsite work typically, potential occasional telework, and some occasional travel.

Education/Experience:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology is required. -OR- A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science may be substituted, depending on other qualifications and experience.

  • Possession of an industry recognized information security certification, such as a CISSP (or Associate) or equivalent is highly desirable.
