Work you'll do

Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced System Administrator with a focus on Linux environments to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and supporting Linux-based systems within an enterprise data center. This role involves ensuring the optimal performance, availability, and security of Linux systems, as well as providing technical support and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Management:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and related infrastructure.

  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability.

  • Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to Linux systems.

  • Manage system licenses and ensure compliance with vendor agreements.

  • Data Center Operations:

  • Collaborate with data center operations teams to ensure seamless integration of Linux systems with data center infrastructure.

  • Monitor and manage server hardware, storage, and networking components.

  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery plans for critical Linux systems.

  • Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support to end-users and resolve Linux-related issues.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system problems, working with vendors as necessary.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

  • Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce security best practices for Linux systems.

  • Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans.

  • Ensure Linux systems comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Performance Optimization:

  • Analyze system performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.

  • Optimize system configurations for better performance and efficiency.

  • Work with development and operations teams to implement performance enhancements.

  • Backup and Recovery:

  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies for Linux systems.

  • Perform regular backups and ensure data integrity.

  • Test and validate backup and recovery processes.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network, storage, and database administrators.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on system status and performance.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or in related respective area (i.e. accounting, human resources, logistics, etc), or other unrelated discipline accompanied with 15 hours of related course study

  • 9 years of progressive experience in systems administration

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

  • Travel up to 10%
