Our Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Principal System Engineer to join our growing team in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma .

This System Engineer will lead a diverse team of electrical, mechanical, aerospace, and systems engineers to achieve organizational goals. They will provide engineering oversight for efforts within an Integrated Product Team (IPT), to include technical planning, requirements development and tracking, system integration, systems integrations lab (SIL), ground and flight testing, verification and validation, airworthiness, system safety, risk, reliability / maintainability, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, requirements, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. This person will lead project teams and be responsible for cost, schedule, and performance.

The selected candidate will have cost, schedule, and technical responsibility for B-2 CSAG

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints

  • Perform or manage functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications

  • Participate in the negotiation of contract and contract changes, coordinating the preparation of proposals, business plans, performance work statements and specifications

  • Serve as primary customer contact for program activities, as well as supporting program review sessions with customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance

  • Establish design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product development, integration and test

  • Establish milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules

  • Establish budgets and applies earned value management procedures for financial management of contracts

  • Identify program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications

  • Act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of assigned projects

  • Direct the work of employees assigned to the program

  • Support the development of new business by expanding the product line with the current customer or with new customers within the Department of Defense or industry

  • Participate in presenting company capabilities to potential customers and in the development of potential solutions to customer requirements

  • Plan R & D programs and recommends technological application programs to accomplish long-range objectives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have either a Bachelor’s in Science or Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of System Engineering experience or a Master’s in Science or Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of System Engineering experience or a PhD in Science or Engineering with a minimum of 0 years of System Engineering experience

  • Strong customer engagement skills

  • 2 years or more of experience managing technical programs

  • Must be a US Citizen and have or be able to obtain/maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Must be able to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven performance as a Systems Engineering Leader in many of the phases of acquisition, design, integration, and execution. Candidate will require ability to rapidly assess and lend guidance to projects assigned to the organizational group as well as demonstrated mentoring and guidance to engineers

  • Business development background including proposal development and Red Team support

  • Experience with aircraft systems to include avionics, radar, communications, mission computing systems, global positioning systems, threat warning systems, navigation, structures, flight controls, offensive and/or defensive systems

  • Experience managing analysis of structural loads, flight dynamics, electrical loads, thermal loads, EMI/EMC and weight and balance

  • Experience with SIL, ground and flight test requirements, planning execution and reporting

  • Experience with obtaining flight and aircraft certifications

  • Experience developing the organization processes, procedures for various engineering analysis

  • Experience identifying and selecting the best software tools to support the various engineering processes

Salary Range: $87,800 - $131,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
