Job Title: Test Engineer

Job Description

The Test Engineer is responsible for working within the Test Engineering organization to develop and improve all areas of the functional end-of-line test and in-process testing systems within all manufacturing operations locations. This includes performing statistical analysis of existing test parameters to improve first-time product acceptance and product defect detection capabilities. Additionally, the role involves the improvement and repair of mechanical/electrical design features, developing and specifying calibration routines, and troubleshooting electrical controls and hydraulic system-related problems. The Test Engineer may also recommend new test equipment and controls/data acquisition solutions that include cost and implementation timing details.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the capability, capacity, and reliability of the end-of-line product testing equipment.

  • Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and final product quality.

  • Recommend and implement measures for test system replacement parts, preventive maintenance measures, and machine inspection frequency to support operational goals.

  • Interface with the customer’s engineering resources to develop final test strategies.

  • Prepare and submit new product test validation data to the customer for final test parameter approval.

  • Interface with production operations to coordinate test development of new products, based on new product launch and implementation timing goals.

  • Troubleshoot operational capability, quality, capacity, and test machine reliability problems, and facilitate problem-solving efforts to determine root cause and corrective actions.

  • Adhere to the policies, procedures, and instructions of the quality management system as related to end-of-line testing.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with engine, transmission, test engineering, electrical testing, and troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of SCADA, Allen-Bradley, Siemens PLC, and LabVIEW.

  • Familiarity with instrumentation, electromechanical systems, control panels, and electrical engineering.

  • Experience with test equipment and programming real-time applications such as PLC and LabVIEW.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with at least one year of experience with automatic transmission processes.

  • General knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, hydraulics, electronics, and computer software.

  • Basic understanding of the operational theory and principles of automatic transaxle/transmissions.

  • Familiarity with common instrumentation testing equipment and data acquisition and control systems.

  • Experience with electronics and automation.

  • High level of analytical ability required, able to prioritize assigned tasks, and accurately estimate the time and costs required for project completion.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00

Full time opportunity with company paid benefits including medical, dental, vision. Unsure of 401k or stock options. Lots of promotion from within.
