Historic Hudson Valley Path & Scanning Attendants, Blaze-Old Bethpage (Sept-Nov) in Old Bethpage, New York

Historic Hudson Valley (HHV) is a Westchester-based cultural non-profit that welcomes visitors to five National Historic Landmarks and presents public tours, school programs, and seasonal festivals for audiences that include suburban families seeking weekend leisure activities; K-12 teachers meeting curricular objectives and their students; and a diverse array of heritage tourists. HHV has a national reputation for groundbreaking on-site interpretation and award-winning digital content, particularly in the content areas of Northern slavery, regional women’s history, and storytelling. HHV's Event Department seeks a path & scanning attendant for our upcoming Blaze Long Island season. The path & scanning attendant will monitor the walking path of The Great Jack ‘o’ Lantern Blaze, greeting of guests and scanning of guest tickets for the Blaze Long Island. Principal Path Attendant duties : - E nsure the safety of visitors within an assigned area of the event path. - P rovide a friendly welcoming presence and assist visitors as they traverse the Blaze path . -A ctively patrol an assigned stretch of event path, providing a visible presence to guests who may have questions or difficulties. -E nsure that all customers stay within the designated areas. A ssess crowd flow and report anything out of the ordinary, such as lost children or parents, medical events, or defective lighting/equipment to the Path Manager or Night Manager on Duty . Primary Ticket Scanner duties : -Ticket scanner will be responsible for greeting guests, carefully scanning tickets and ensuring that there are the same number of tickets as guests in a party . -Refer guests to the Scanning Manager should there be issues that cannot be resolved. -With guidance from site Manager on Duty, direct guests toward event/performance. Work Conditions: - Site specific work, outdoors - Exposure to changing weather conditions - Will include weekend, evening and holiday assignments -Shifts include mostly all nighttime events, ranging from 4pm-midnight. Physical Requirements: - Must be able to walk or stand on level, inclined and unpaved surfaces for extended periods of time. -Must be able to work in various weather conditions, including rain, wind, and cold temperatures. - Must be able to take directions from area manager and Manager on Duty. - Must be able to read and interpret written material and instructions - Must be able to communicate clearly to others, either by radio or in person. -Willing to be available 2- 5 nights per week; weekends are preferred . - Computer accessibility/ Knowledge of MS Office desirable .
