Need 29 full time, temporary, seasonal Farmworkers /Laborers to work at various locations in Renville, Stevens, Kandiyohi, Lac Qui Parle, Pope, Lyon, Redwood, Morrison, Stearns, Otter Tail, Cottonwood, and Swift Counties in Minnesota, and in Brookings County, South Dakota. From: 07/06/2024 to 08/06/2024 Work: 36 hrs./week, Mon. - Sat. 6 hrs./day Hours may vary. Possibility of overtime. All hours worked in excess of 48 hours in a work week will be paid at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay. Effective Jan 1, 2024, per MN State Statute, employee will earn one hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to at least 48 hours of accrued Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) a year. Must Apply By: 07/22/2024 JOB DUTIES: Pollination. This role involves walking down the aisles between the plants in the corn field, for the purpose of pollinating the corn. Additional, hands-on training will be provided on site. Contract Workers will also remove rogue plants, weeds, and volunteer corn plants from the corn nursery field. To perform this work Contract Workers must be able to walk the duration of the day while performing the pollinations on the corn plants. Must be able to work long hours, at least 6 hours per day, in all kinds of weather, hot humid weather, rain and muddy conditions, and will be exposed to pollen the whole day and be in possession of the requisite strength and endurance, working skillfully with their hands. Workers should be able to work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, etc. may affect workers ability to perform the job. Workers should be physically able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodations. Workers are exposed to wet weather early in the morning and heat throughout the day while working in the fields. Temperatures may range from 30-100F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Workers may be required to perform work, on the farm, that is incidental to farming the crops listed in the application, such as performing hand-cultivation tasks, weeding or hoeing various crops, cleaning and repairing farm buildings, seed beds, grounds, setting up and moving irrigation pipes and equipment, gardening, weeding and shrubbing, etc. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Three (3) months experience. Must be able to lift 70lbs. to shoulder height repetitively throughout the workday and be able to lift and carry 70 lbs. Must be able to work on your feet, in extreme weather, with extensive, pushing, pulling, sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over, and repetitive movements. Pre-hire criminal background check at employer's expense. Possible random drug or alcohol tests after hire, at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. No minimum education required. EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts.
