Sierra Nevada Corporation Sr Principal Systems Certification Engineer (Remote Eligible) in Olympia, Washington

Join our team! As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

The Systems Test & Certification Engineer is responsible for planning and executing all internal and external activities required to integrate, verify, validate, and certify the EFVS MMWR system for the commercial aviation market. They are responsible for defining the testing strategy, ensuring that the product meets all the FAA requirements, and managing the testing and certification processes. The role requires collaboration with the cross-functional Integrated Product Team to ensure the successful delivery of the product. The Test and Certification Manager must have a strong understanding of FAA regulations, excellent project management skills, and experience in leading testing efforts for complex systems. They should be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. They are a control account manager (CAM) responsible for planning and managing the cost and schedule performance of their assigned scope.

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 16 or more years of relevant experience

  • Proficient experience designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems in a digital engineering environment (i.e., MBSE and digital twin)

  • Proficient experience in requirements definition, system architecture specification, interface definition, and system verification and validation.

  • Proficient experience in system and document configuration management

  • Experience with industry-standard systems engineering and modelling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, EnterpriseArchitect, etc.

  • Experience working closely with Customer, Program Managers, Chief Engineers, and Lead Developers to document, manage and communicate systems and software requirements

  • Experience leading a highly-collaborative multi-disciplinary team

  • Experience leading and delivering large-scale projects, ability to architect complex systems

  • Experience planning and overseeing execution of multiple concurrent development efforts

  • Experience building and maintaining a high-performance team, and fostering an culture of continuous learning and development

  • Knowledge of system safety process to identify potential system safety risks and mitigations, such as MIL-STD-882\ARP-4761

  • Knowledge of system cybersecurity risk management framework/process to identify potential system risks and mitigations per DoDI 8500.01

  • Strong organization skills and work ethic

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

  • Ability to establish and track key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)

Preferred:

  • Familiarity and/or experience with software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral

  • Familiarity and/or experience with industry-standard systems engineering and modeling languages such as SysML, UML, ADL, etc.

  • Familiarity and/or experience with industry-standard systems engineering and modeling tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB, and Simulink

  • Familiarity and/or experience with INCOSE Standards

  • INCOSE Professional Certification

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $166,676 to $208,346.22. SNC considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $172,510.67 - $237,202.18. SNC considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
