Job Title: Chemist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Chemist responsible for adhering to all safety procedures and performing testing in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. The ideal candidate will ensure proper calibration, maintenance of lab equipment, and accurately record test results. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying out-of-specification results and maintaining a clean, GMP-compliant work environment. Cooperation and respect within the team are essential, as is providing constructive feedback to management.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures and additional laboratory safety requirements.

  • Perform all testing and record results according to written Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Record and perform daily/weekly/monthly/yearly calibrations, verifications, and maintenance on lab equipment, solutions, and tools.

  • Identify and report out-of-specification results to the supervisor and complete necessary documentation.

  • Maintain a clean work environment and adhere to GMP standards.

  • Foster a friendly, respectful, and cooperative work environment.

  • Verify calculations and enter test results into the computer system for in-process samples and finished products.

  • Log in test samples and enter the test schedule into the laboratory book for each sample.

  • Notify management of potential improvements, safety concerns, or other beneficial feedback.

  • Adhere to all rules and regulations of the Employee Handbook.

  • Perform any additional duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Essential Skills

  • Strong knowledge of chemistry and biology.

  • Proficiency in general chemistry techniques and the ability to learn and retain information.

  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office and web-based management systems.

  • Experience in a chemistry laboratory, preferably in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

  • Skills in testing validation, quality assurance, calibration, verification, and use of standard operating procedures.

  • Understanding of GMP environment and test equipment.

  • Knowledge of chromatography, biochemistry, formulation, GCMS, gas chromatography, sample analysis, analytical chemistry, and wet chemistry.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • A degree in Chemistry is required.

  • Willingness to learn quickly and adapt to new processes.

  • Experience in a GMP environment is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This position is on the General Health side of the company. The lab is very clean, organized, and climate-controlled, although the facility itself might not have the best smell. The lab environment is lively with music playing, and you will be working with a team that enjoys a positive atmosphere. The role is first shift, approximately 8am-4pm, with an average of 5 hours of overtime per week.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00
