Stephens & Smith is currently seeking a full-time dynamic and motivated Project Engineer to join our team. The Project Engineer has responsibility for fulfilling various project tasks, serving as the link between the technical and managerial aspects of a project. A Project Engineer must demonstrate proven leadership, attention to detail, organization, and maintain Stephens & Smith quality, work ethics, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities (Includes but is not limited to):

  • Manage job costs, job cost tracking, and change orders

  • Manages RFIs, addendums, revisions, and bulletins

  • Manage project documentation in a neat, orderly fashion

  • Assist in pricing and creating proposals for RFIs, addendums, bulletins, etc.

  • Assist in preconstruction documentation including submittals, prequalification forms, safety information, etc.

  • Participates in job hazard analysis and submits paperwork as needed.

  • Handles jobsite permits, including dig permits, hot work permits, and inspection sheets. Submit as needed to general contractors.

  • Assist is creating job schedules and placing concrete orders as needed.

  • Participate in project meetings as needed.

  • Submit submittal documents for concrete for foundations and flatwork including but not limited to reinforcing for foundations and flatwork, fill orders, backfill material orders, miscellaneous material order, vapor barrier orders, etc..

  • Ability to maintain change order logs for numerous ongoing jobs in Excel and accounting software.

  • Submit billing through various different platforms including AIA, Textura, combined AIAs, and job specific billing

  • Scanning documents into foundation software

  • Submitting bonds for specific Jobs

  • Performs safety checks during bidding, before a job starts, added safety and OSHA Logs

    Requirements:

  • 2 to 4 years engineering or construction management degree

  • Must be very proficient in Excel for tracking job costs, RFIs, documents, etc.

  • Must be able to work a 40–50-hour work week

  • Ability to complete on site walk throughs for quality and safety checks

  • Background in construction

  • Work will be based mostly in and around the Omaha area.

    Definitions: Based on 8-12 hours per day

    Continually 70-100% Regularly 50-70%

    Periodically 20-50% Rarely – less than 20%

  • Continually required to reach with hands and arms.

  • Continually required to speak and listen.

  • Rarely lifting up to 25 lbs.

  • Regularly works under pressure meeting project schedules and budget guidelines.

  • Continually work with diversified work groups and am able to manage conflict in a professional manner in accordance with Company policy.

  • Continually able to work eight-to-ten-hour work days each week and occasional weekends.

  • Continually utilize specific vision abilities required to perform the essential functions of the job, i.e., close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
