Summary:

Greentech Renewables is the nation's leading solar equipment distributor and distributes a full range of solar equipment to thousands of contractors throughout the United States, Caribbean, and Latin America, enabling solar installers to easily and cost-effectively design, sell, and install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

Greentech Renewables’s Design Services Team is a private design and permitting service within the CED Greentech network. We only work with licensed professionals who are CED Greentech customers.

The number and scope of our projects has grown dramatically and we are adding another Commercial Solar Design Manager to help us manage that rapidly growing pipeline.

Reports to: Commercial Division Lead Engineering Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Solar Engineering or Project Management plus actual Solar construction experience. Alternatively, a journeyman electrician with solar and design experience.

  • 5+ years of commercial solar construction experience may be preferred over an MBA or Master's in engineering with at least 5 years of commercial solar design experience

  • 2 years of recent technical experience with commercial energy storage systems

  • Knowledge of electrical and building code affiliated with solar design & installations

  • Knowledge of different types of batteries, inverters, and approaches to Solar PV coupling as applicable for commercial and residential applications

  • Good CAD drafting abilities

  • Excellent Solar Product knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EIT or PE License a plus

  • NABCEP Certification a plus

  • Degree/Masters in Electrical Engineering

Working Conditions:

  • Remote work on a small team, with multiple weekly check-ins

  • Work standard business hours of 8am to 5pm within your time zone or within the time zone of the Division assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction and perception of positive value creation on every job and across customer's interaction with GRDS

  • Responsibility for the completion and delivery of locally code-compliant plansets, while conforming to customer requirements and expectations. Code Requirements include but are not limited to IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and UL

  • Ensure designs are compatible with specific solar equipment, including but not limited to energy storage technologies by working directly with manufacturers as needed

  • Editing and finalization of plan-sets, including engineering review and layout/formatting finalization

  • Assign tasks to drafters & engineers and manage to completion

  • Manage engineering queue, ensuring timely completion and adherence to forecasted timelines

  • Communicate proactively and effectively with internal personnel, customers and Greentech sales representatives(phone, email, instant message services, etc.)

  • Collaborate with the sales team to suggest products when required

  • Provide design and engineering budgets for various projects

  • Create reports to give updates on projects as required by internal or external customers

  • Attend trade shows and conferences, and maintain customer relationships whether in person or via virtual meetings

  • Evaluate, onboard, and manage draftsperson and external vendors

  • Work collaboratively with team of fellow commercial design managers and residential design personnel

Compensation Range:

The compensation range for this position is $90000 to $115000 annually.
