Robert Half Staff Accountant in Omaha, Nebraska

Description We are inviting applications for the role of a Staff Accountant in our team located in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. This role operates within the construction/contractor industry and demands a high level of attention to detail and organization. As a Staff Accountant, you will be accountable for managing all financial components of our business, ensuring the accuracy of records, processing transactions, and producing financial reports.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain precise and current financial records using SAGE, including accounts payable and receivable, along with general ledger entries.

• Process and reconcile daily transactions such as sales, purchases, payments, and receipts.

• Prepare and present financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. These reports include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

• Assist in the creation and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making.

• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies. Preparation and filing of tax returns as required.

• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations to management.

• Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

• Utilize SAGE software to its maximum potential, including setting up and maintaining accounts, generating reports, and troubleshooting issues.

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency within the SAGE system.

• Oversee payroll functions, ensuring adherence to union regulations. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role in the Construction/Contractor industry

• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Proficiency in using accounting software such as Sage 100 and Sage 300

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Familiarity with bank reconciliations, general ledger operations, and journal entries

• Ability to manage payroll functions, including union payroll

• Experience in month-end close procedures

• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must be authorized to work in the specified location.
