Controller
As a key partner to the CFO, the Controller will manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the finance department: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing, and fiscal intermediary.
The ideal candidate is well-versed in not-for-profit accounting, has strong technical skills [Excel in particular], knows how to extract/stage/analyze data, and has experience with process automation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Detail oriented with excellent mathematical, accounting and analytical skills
Strong technical skills with advanced ability in Excel
Experience with budget administration, analysis, and reporting
Knowledge of NYS and Federal regulations re - tax, payroll, filing requirements, etc
Possess good interpersonal, written, oral, and communication abilities, and effective time management/organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality with agency reports and information
Posting journal entries,
Preparing monthly financial statements,
Financial analysis,
Maintaining an organized system of accounting records,
Monitoring internal controls, and interfacing with external auditors
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides supervision/direction to all employees within the Business Office including but not limited to; Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Purchasing, Fiscal Intermediary, Accounting Assistant and Payroll.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
7 years relevant work experience with at least 3 years supervisory experience
Not-for-profit experience - familiarity with OPWDD, OMH preferred
Strong ability in NetSuite preferred
A combination of education and experience that in the opinion of the reviewing agency that meets the standards of the program
REQUIREMENTS
Valid NYS driver's license and an acceptable driving record
Successful completion of all required agency/state/federal training
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
