Join SUNY Oneonta's dedicated fundraising team as a Senior Advancement - Major Gift Officer, where you will make a lasting impact by raising charitable gifts that support SUNY Oneonta's students and programs. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for University Advancement, the successful candidate will be a strong advocate for SUNY Oneonta and its mission. This is a rewarding role, raising funds for scholarships and experiential learning opportunities that enrich the academic journeys of SUNY Oneonta students.

The Division of University Advancement includes the offices of Development & Fundraising and Alumni Engagement. The primary goals of the Division are to increase the level of private support for the University, strengthen alumni traditions and networks, and build sustaining long-term relationships that advance the reputation and visibility of the University.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with donors, leading to soliciting gifts and stewarding a portfolio of individuals with varying giving capacities.

  • Travel nationally to engage with alumni, with efforts monitored and assessed for effectiveness.

  • Partner and collaborate with campus liaisons to engage alumni donors, aligning their interests with SUNY Oneonta's priorities to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3 years experience in fundraising, advancement, finance, education, or a field with related transferable skills.

  • Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to independently plan and executive monthly travel for alumni donor visits.

  • Availability for periodic evening and weekend work.

  • Possess a valid driver's license.

  • Experience working with diverse populations.

Preferred:

  • Experience securing major gifts of $25,000 to $1,000,000.

  • 5 or more years of work experience in fundraising, advancement, finance, education, or a field with related transferable skills.
