Summary:

Responsible for inspecting and finishing metal surfaces to ensure cleanliness and absence of surface irregularities before painting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for inspecting and finishing metal surfaces to ensure cleanliness and absence of surface irregularities before painting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Grinds parts and/ or components to acceptable surface profiles.

Applies adhesives, caulk, and bondo to appropriate metal surfaces.

Smooths surface of parts to a specified finish.

Polishes metal surface.

Examines and feels surface of metal to detect defects such as dents, scratches, or breaks in metal.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to work four 12-hour days, occasionally working up to 5 days/week as business demands.
  • Ability to wear protective gear due to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Ability to frequently be exposed to flashing lights.
  • Must occasionally be exposed to weather conditions such as: precipitation, extreme cold and extreme heat.
  • Regularly required to wear hearing protect on in a loud environment.
