Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Control Systems Engineer or Specialist to join the Technical Team for the Golden Triangle Polymers facility located in Orange, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up.
This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX and will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations. #HPCP
Responsibilities
Participate in project EPC, MAC, and third-party FATs/SATs as required
Review and provide feedback on EPC and MAC project documentation
Provide input, assistance, and troubleshooting with pre-commissioning and commissioning activities to ensure all Process Automation Systems and third-party control systems meet Company requirements prior to initial startup
Support Alarm Documentation and Rationalization (AOA) activities
Create and provide instruction for training Operations, I&E Maintenance, and technical personnel as part of operational readiness activities
Develop, improve, and implement graphics, alarms, and control strategies that improve plant safety, environmental, profitability and/or efficiency performance
Responsible for implementation and management of Advanced Process Control applications and directing the activities of APC vendor support personnel

Engage in Process Safety Management (PSM) by participating in the Management of Change process including hazard reviews, participating in larger HAZOP and LOPA studies, action item follow-up, and PSSRs
Support IT/ICS group on project specified and future initiatives regarding cyber security.
Coordinate with ICS group day to day support and maintenance of process control hardware such as workstations, servers and switches.
Maintain and support process information systems and database infrastructures such as Oracle, MS SQL, and proprietary vendor databases
Support site in control system off-hour call out duties as needed
Maintain open and effective communications on and across shifts within the department, unit leadership, and other operating/functional support staffs
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum 5 years of experience in industry experience OR High school diploma with a minimum of 8 years of experience supporting manufacturing facilities/Projects.
Must have minimum of 3 years of process Automation/Control Systems experience.
Proficient in reading and understanding design documents like P&IDs, instrument loop drawings, and schematics
Ability to communicate technical concepts to engineers and non-engineers
Good written and verbal communication skills
A self-starter with the ability to guide and influence others
Preferred Qualifications
Chemical Engineering Degree
Experience in petrochemical manufacturing/Refinery industry
Ethylene manufacturing experience
Experience with Emerson DeltaV Control System
Experience with Virtualization
Experience with Advanced Process Control (APC)
Experience with Commissioning/Start-up
