JOB DESCRIPTION:Full time (40 hr/week) research entailing training of animal subjects, collection of neurophysiological data with electrode arrays from the trained subjects, analysis of the data, and preparation of analyzed data for publication. The work requires the ability to work independently, as well as in a team of specialists.JOB DUTIES:Independent training of subjects on cognitive tasks used in sensory and cognitive brain research. Independent surgical preparation of subjects for awake electrophysiological study sessions. Medical care of study subjects, including evening and weekend work as required. Collection of electrophysiological data with electrode arrays from behaving subjects. Preparation of manuscripts for publication. Preparation and submission of grant applications.JOB QUALIFICATIONS;Job requirements include at least 4 years previous experience in animal research and a doctoral level (PHD or equivalent) degree in Neuroscience or a related field. The candidate must be proficient in experimental design, data collection, data analysis and preparation of research publications. The candidate must have experience in recording from awake behaving animal subjects and advanced neuromodulation techniques. The candidate should possess the skills necessary to help refine and test biophysical models using both stimulus and pharmacological manipulations.Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements:Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
