Overview
The qualified applicant will be expected to operate all molding presses and perform all primary and secondary operations associated with the molding operation. This position also requires that one have full knowledge of all Level I and Level II Molding Technician requirements and the ability to train new associates as need.
Responsibilities
- Injection and Transfer Molding Machine operation with full understanding of machine controls and operations in both manual and automatic modes.
- Load pre-programed recipes in some presses as well as manual input of molding parameters in older presses. Verify all machine settings match latest revision of the process data sheet at the beginning of each run.
- Ability to perform mold changes. This function requires the proper use of a hoist and knowledge of proper rigging of molds. The proper use of a mold change cart. The operation of a fork truck may also be required.
- Fully trained and signed off as a qualified operator for all molding processes associated with all molding departments (Injection and Transfer).
- Able to produce molded parts at the established production rates, not exceed expected scrap rates and inspect / verify that all molded parts meet all quality requirements.
- Follow all work instructions as trained; including but not limited to Molding Manuals, Assembly manuals, Work Orders (routers), Supplemental Quality Inspections, General Workmanship Standards, etc.
- Ability to operate the two roll mill to blend compounds for molding as needed.
- A Level III Technician is expected to train new employees on various entry level job assignments as well as skilled Level II Technicians on additional job assignments.
- Participate and/or take lead on continuous improvement activities, R&D trials, Kaizens and develop new processes under engineering supervision.
Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 90lbs occasionally, up to 50lbs regularly.
- A positive “can do” attitude.
- Ability to stand for the entire shift.
- A team leader who can mentor and train new employees.
- Ability to work well with others in a team oriented atmosphere.
- Ability to multi-task. A level III Technician will be expected to be able to prioritize and coordinate one’s own assignment while overseeing the training of others.
- Flexible with respect to job re-assignments.
- Possess the desire to learn additional job functions within the department. (e.g. Assembly; Part prep - masking, blasting, painting; Part marking; Final Assembly and Pack-out; Finished Part Testing; Other miscellaneous duties as needed.
- Must be able to read and write English and pass a basic math test.
- Ability to read part prints/drawings is a must.
- Must have basic MS Office computer skills and be knowledgeable with Excel and E-mail.Minimum of a high school degree or equivalent is required.Higher education in a technical field preferred.
- Previous experience with Injection or Transfer Molding preferred.
Salary: 21.78 - 32.55 hourly
